Coaches Responsibilities

All TSSAA Middle School Division coaches must be approved and signed off on by the principal or superintendent, and/or local board of education and the TMSGA must be notified if there is a permanent coaching change during the season.

All Non-TSSAA Middle School coaches must be approved by the school Principal or Athletic Director.

Teams that have one coach for both a boys team and a girls team may appoint an assistant coach to advise one of the teams during competition. The assistant coach must be on file with the TMSGA.

Submit forms and payment on time (before first practice and/or competition). Eligible players may be added during the season by emailing the office with the player's name, grade and DOB. A Parent Consent Form must also be submitted.

Know and enforce unsportsmanlike conduct (coaches, student/athletes, and spectators)

Do not play ineligible student athletes.
ADVICE

During regular season play, coaches may decide the level of advice appropriate for their players

Coaches may advise their players in post season play only between the green and the next tee without holding up play.

Players can take no longer than 40 seconds to hit a shot when it is their turn to play. Violators should be warned and educated

Assist all players with pace of play

Individual participants may receive advice from one adult on file with the TMSGA office.
DO's and DON'T's in TMSGA PLAY
Do's:

Communicate any schedule changes to your players, opposing team's golf coaches, and host golf course.

Develop a positive, working relationship with the host golf course

Be visible at your team's matches and encourage your players

Give advice to you players when necessary (Note: Only one coach can givce advice for each team during a match).

Make sure participants are hydrated

Assist with maintaining a positive pace of play

Assist with rulings

Enforce TMSGA spectator guidelines

Follow all TMSGA match guidelines

Don't's:

Only follow one player/group the entire match

Give advice to players on another team or players representing another school as an individual

Play more than five (5) boys from your roster in a boys match without speaking to the golf facility (course may not have available tee times).

Play more than three (3) girls from your roster in a girls match without speakings to the golf facility (course may not have available tee times).
